R is an open-source programming language and software environment for statistical analysis, graphics representation, and reporting.
One of R’s strengths is the ease with which well-designed publication-quality plots can be produced, including mathematical symbols and formulae where needed. Great care has been taken over the defaults for the minor design choices in graphics, but the user retains full control.
For this workshop, we will use R 3.0 or above and the RStudio environment.
To install R go to CRAN and follow instructions according to your OS. You can use the CRAN mirror 0.
Next, you can install the free version of RStudio desktop here. Download the one recommended for your OS.
You can now access R by opening RStudio as an application.
